Our #1 most surrendered bird are budgies. They are wonderful, playful, fun, inquisitive parrots but are sadly bought easily as an impulse buy for children from pet stores. They are often bought without a friend due to misguided, outdated information that birds will not bond with you or your child if there is another bird. The reality is that budgies need another bird due to how social they are. That is why they love being in a flock as our first sanctuary bird here at PRH. They eat well, bathe, play, preen, fly at will, flock, and receive medical treatment in an indoor enclosure that is all their own. They still need someone to love them, just from afar.
