Sweet Pea, a Goffin’s Cockatoo, may be small in size, but her personality is larger than life! Sweet Pea is a natural entertainer, delighting in games, shredding toys, and finding clever ways to escape …
Selena is a lovebird abandoned outside a Walmart by the garbage cans. It is a shame. However, Sweet Selena is a little warrior. She is tough and will warn you off. She is not a fan of people, needless to say. She will make a friend for another Fischer's (not a peach faced). Ideally, she …

Thank you for saving and caring for my baby.
I had an emergency come up on the weekend and couldn't find anyone that could help my 22 year old Macaw. A wildlife bird rescue recommended I give Papayago a call.
I called them immediately and spoke with Brianna, at Papayago. She was very concerned about my bird’s well being, and immediately offered to help.
I honestly feel she would not have survived, had it not been for their immediate intervention, compassion and knowledge. Maria and Brianna have gone above and beyond, to do whatever is needed in order to help my bird. They wanted to make sure that she will have a complete recovery, including covering the vet fees in order to get a proper diagnosis, and continuing care.
Since they are a bird rescue they are not open to the public, except by appointment only. As much time and work that is spent caring for these beautiful birds, I can see why it's necessary to require appointments.
Papayago is a non profit that operates solely on donations, by other bird enthusiast. I highly recommend them and if you are able to donate, please do. I can promise you that they do amazing things with your donations to help as many birds as they possibly can! Thank you so much Papayago!
Once you’ve chosen your bird, you pay the adoption fee and bring a new member of your family home. Throughout our meetings, we learned so much about birds—things we had no idea about! For example, wearing perfume around birds isn’t safe, and certain grocery store flowers can be poisonous due to their pollen. There’s so much more to consider than simply taking a bird home.
Maria does an excellent job ensuring that each bird is placed in the right home, and she provides invaluable insights along the way. She continues to share helpful information, like recommendations for bird care and even vet suggestions, which we really appreciate. We plan to stay in touch through the Facebook group.
One thing to note—while they are a non-profit, cages and supplies come at a cost, and it’s important to be realistic about the expenses. This organization does an incredible job, and they rely on some funds to continue their work. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we couldn’t be happier with our new feathered friend!
